Robert D Stewart, MD

A pillar in the Central Valley medical community, Robert Douglas Stewart is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon who has been caring for patients for more than 47 years.
Inspired to pursue medicine by his experience in the healthcare system as a young man, Dr. Stewart is committed to helping everyone regardless of their status in society.
His areas of care include coronary artery disease, lung cancer, aortic valve stenosis, pulmonary empyema, aortic dissections and more.
He’s passionate about medicine because it allows him an opportunity to help others regain their love of life, enhancing and extending it so they can cherish time with their family and loved ones.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Stewart enjoys camping, hiking, skiing and riding his motorcycle. He has five children and has been married to his wife, a general surgeon named Edythe, for more than 20 years.
