Biografía
Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner Rafael Teran, MSN, PMHNP, treats adults and adolescents with a range of behavioral health needs and conditions. They include ADD, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and schizophrenia.
Driven by a sense of compassion and desire to help people, Teran listens carefully to patient stories and focuses on helping those who often cannot speak for themselves. His desire is to be able to go home every day knowing he helped someone.
Teran places a high level of importance on education, with a goal to help patients learn how to manage their disorder and achieve a better quality of life, understanding that some behavioral health conditions can be or become quite severe, Teran knows it’s important to equip patients with the knowledge, skills and proper medication they need to maintain or improve their health.
Rafael attended Fresno State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a master’s degree in nursing through the family nurse practitioner program, and additional training to become a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. He speaks both English and Spanish.
He is a frequent volunteer and has dedicated time to those with behavioral health needs at Valley Children’s plus prison and homeless outreach missions. When not caring for patients, he enjoys playing the guitar and piano, attending church and reading the Bible.
