Michelle Elyse Wheeler, MD

As the child of two physicians, Michelle Wheeler, MD, chose to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology because she wants to empower her patients to make well-informed choices about their care. “I want to be an advocate for my patients,” she explains, “and make sure they are an active participant in their care.”
Having a job centered around helping others live better lives is meaningful to Dr. Wheeler. “It is a privilege to be there for my patients during some of life's biggest moments, whether it is the birth of their child, managing an abnormal Pap smear or counseling regarding contraception,” she says.
Dr. Wheeler completed both medical school and residency at Loma Linda University in California. She’s excited to be part of the Adventist Health emphasis on whole-person care. She says patients are more than just numbers here.
Husband Aaron and their dog, Buster, complete Dr. Wheeler’s home in Portland. They love hiking and getting out in nature, including winters spent snowshoeing and skiing in the mountains. They also enjoy live music and head to concerts every chance they get.
