Michele Ann Zimmerman-Pike, CNM

Certified nurse-midwife Michele Zimmerman-Pike has spent a lot of her career working in birth settings, from home births to hospital-based practices. “It’s my goal to make women and their support team comfortable during labor and childbirth to best facilitate physiologic birth and hold space for moments and memories like these,” she says. 
Growing up near Manhattan, Michele was influenced toward her career by the Broadway musical Baby, which explored the experiences of three women in different circumstances during pregnancy and childbirth. “Through my own labors, I experienced feeling some of the most vulnerable yet paradoxically powerful moments in my life,” she recalls. “I can still get misty eyed when I recall how my husband, Ed, lovingly helped me through the intensity of transition with gentle guidance from our midwives.” 
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Emory University, Michele went on to get a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on nurse-midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. Michele values supporting women in optimal birth and health. She brings a passion for practical nutrition, exercise and mindfulness to her practice. She cares for women through the many stages of their reproductive life, not just pregnancy and birth. 
“I have wanted to help women have babies for as long as I can remember. As I got older my desire matured to include wanting mothers to feel their power in birthing and nurturing,” Michele shares. “I think that this power provides an excellent foundation for women viewing themselves as experts on their own bodies and experts on the care of their families.” 
Outside of work, Michele spends time permaculture gardening and cooking. She has five children, including a pair of twins, who are all young adults. As they’ve grown, she has more time for running, training in Brazilian jiu jitsu and canning foods from the garden.
