Cory Vernon Carlston, MD

Dr. Cory Carlston is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. With training and experience in hand and trauma surgery, he is prepared to help patients with complex orthopedic needs.
His love of science — combined with the desire to help people live healthy lives — led Dr. Carlston to pursue a career in medicine. Orthopedics provides a unique challenge for Dr. Carlston, who says no two injuries are exactly alike. He’s fascinated by the intricate anatomy of the hand and says helping patients recover and return to active lifestyles is the most rewarding part of his work.
"My favorite part of going to work is the challenge and concentration required for surgery, coupled with the satisfaction and happiness of the patients after they have recovered from their injury," he says.
After attending medical school at the University of Utah, Dr. Carlston completed a residency at University of Southern California School of Medicine. He followed this with a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of New Mexico. After two years of practice in New Mexico, he completed a second fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Regions Hospital with the University of Minnesota.
In his spare time, Dr. Carlston enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. His hobbies include running, biking, hiking and camping. He also likes playing basketball and baseball.
